IndiGo Transmission spectrocolorimeter: Optical and colorimetric analysis of liquids
This next-generation transmission spectrocolorimeter is an optical analysis solution of absolute precision, specifically developed for the colorimetric and spectral characterization of translucent liquids, chemical solutions, and oils. Equipped with a reference light source—a calibrated 7500 K hyperspectral LED (simulating standard daylight illumination)—this instrument measures a continuous spectrum from 380 nm to 720 nm with an ultra-fine sampling step of 0.5 nm. This unique analytical precision captures the most subtle color variations and ensures perfect compliance with international colorimetric standards (CIE L*a*b*, XYZ, Yxy).
Key advantages of 0.5 nm sampling and a 7500 K LED
- 7500 K Hyperspectral LED: Delivers an ultra-stable and homogeneous cool white emission profile across the entire visible range, ensuring optimal light power in short wavelengths (blue/near-UV) where standard halogen lamps fail.
- 0.5 nm Resolution and Sampling: Enables the plotting of transmission curves with absolute sharpness and the detection of extremely narrow absorption peaks, essential for discriminating almost identical molecules or counterfeits.
- Standardized Device Fleet: Thanks to excellent inter-instrument repeatability, color indices and transmission profiles can be instantly shared across your different production sites or laboratories.
Key applications: Mastering color and purity
🍷 1. Precision oenology: Profiling and monitoring Rosé wines
The color of a rosé wine is its primary commercial attribute and a critical indicator of its winemaking process:
- Fine characterization of Rosé nuances: Thanks to the 0.5 nm step, the device accurately measures color intensity and hue (ratio of absorbances at 420 nm and 520 nm) according to OIV standards. It allows precise control of pressing, fining, or maceration operations to achieve the perfect color (peach, salmon, rose petal).
- Oxidation kinetics monitoring: Detect the slightest color shifts during aging and storage by measuring early browning even before it is visible to the naked eye.
🧪 2. Perfumery, Cosmetics & Luxury aromas
The color stability of a perfume is a guarantee of quality and durability for the greatest brands:
- Juice quality control (Batch-to-Batch): Ensure that each batch of perfume or eau de toilette has exactly the same CIE L*a*b* colorimetric signature, guaranteeing the brand’s visual identity in stores.
- Accelerated aging and stability testing: Measure the resistance of formulations (fragrances and dyes) to UV radiation or thermal variations by tracking the evolution of the transmission spectrum over time.
- Essential oils authentication: The continuous absorption profile verifies the purity of natural raw materials and identifies adulterations (dilutions or added solvents).
🍏 3. Food, Beverages & Vegetable oils
- Beverage translucency: Ideal for controlling the color consistency of spirits, lagers, syrups, or filtered fruit juices.
- Oil grading: Measurement of specific color indices (transmission curves) to classify the purity of vegetable oils and track the degradation of natural pigments (chlorophyll and carotenoids).
💧 4. Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Water treatment
- Yellowness (YI) and Whiteness Indices: Compliance monitoring for solvents, liquid polymers, or liquid active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
- Turbidity measurement and compliance: Colorimetric analysis of industrial effluents to ensure compliance with environmental standards before discharge.
💡 Custom Design & Integrated modules (OEM)
Do you want to integrate this transmission measurement bench directly onto a continuous flow line using a flow cell, or do you need a thermoregulated cuvette holder geometry? Our engineering department adapts the optical and mechanical architecture of our colorimeters for your specific industrial applications.
A “Color and Metrology” oriented software ecosystem
This spectrocolorimeter integrates seamlessly with the GoyaLab software suite to translate spectra into actionable industrial data:
- SpectroLab (Windows): Comprehensive laboratory software included to acquire spectra, perform blank calibrations (100% transmission), and instantly calculate color coordinates (L*, a*, b*, Delta E, yellowness indices).
- Android Application: Connected via Bluetooth 5.0, it allows quick checks at the foot of vats/barrels or in raw material storage areas.
- Python Library “SpectroLink”: The ideal tool for automating your processes. Program color drift alerts (Delta E exceeding a tolerated threshold) or directly inject 0.5 nm sampling data into your predictive blending or formulation models.
📦 Delivery information: The transmission spectrocolorimeter is delivered calibrated in wavelength and intensity. The standard package includes the measurement system, a set of reference cuvettes, and the SpectroLab software.
